CHELSEA kena taruk 4-0 ngan Bournemouth

Chelsea's top-four hopes suffered a huge dent as Maurizio Sarri's side collapsed to a humiliating 4-0 defeat at mid-table Bournemouth on Wednesday -- a result that dropped them down to fifth in the table.

Despite Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain making his Premier League debut, Chelsea failed to make their overwhelming first-half possession count and the second half was a horror show.

Bournemouth proved more clinical as Joshua King scored twice, either side of a goal for David Brooks, and Charlie Daniels completed the rout in stoppage time.

It was only the second time since the start of the Premier League in 1992 that Chelsea had lost by a four-goal margin -- the other was a 5-1 loss to Liverpool in 1996.

Italian Sarri, who accused his team of being "hard to motivate" after a 2-0 loss at Arsenal in their last league game, spent 45 minutes locked in the changing room with his players.

Daniels' late goal meant Chelsea's goal difference is the same as Arsenal's but they have scored fewer goals.

For all their possession, the closest Chelsea came to scoring in the opening period was Mateo Kovacic's header which was touched onto the bar by Bournemouth keeper Artur Boruc.

Boruc made several other stops but Chelsea's lack of punch in the attacking third -- a thorn in their side all season -- was clear to see again as they suffered a second heavy loss to Bournemouth in consecutive seasons having been beaten 3-0 at Stamford Bridge a year ago.

"I think we played better football in that game last season," Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe said.

"This game we rode our luck early but counter-attacked superbly. That is a feature I'll remember from this game."

Bournemouth gradually grew into the game and were a threat on the break with Brooks and Junior Stanislas both denied by Spanish keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Chelsea fell behind two minutes after the break when Brooks's astute reverse pass released King to fire high past Arrizabalaga and things went from bad to worse as King's pass over the top left released Brooks who stepped inside David Luiz's half-hearted tackle and fired home.

Bournemouth were rampant and Stanislas set up King for his second after a flowing move in the 74th minute.

Daniels came off the bench to head home in stoppage time.

EPL : CHELSEA 2 - 0 Bournemouth

Maurizio Sarri is the sixth manager to win his first four games in charge, joining five other managers…
Mourinho - 2004 Hiddink - 2009 Ancelotti - 2009 Guardiola - 2016 Shakespeare - 2017

Man of the match: Eden Hazard

It was hard going for Chelsea, but Hazard was their driving force. The Belgium international was typically threatening whenever he got on the ball, driving past challenges and creating spaces for team-mates. He made five key passes (more than any other player) and sealed the win with a clinical finish.

Maurizio Sarri: "This kind of match usually you can win in the last 20-25 minutes. The match was very difficult against a very organised team. They defended very aggressively and the situation was not so easy."

EPL GW5 : Kemenangan pertama Bournemouth

Jermain Defoe has now scored against 36 different EPL Clubs.

Jermain Defoe scored a well-taken winner as Bournemouth came from behind to claim their first Premier League win of the season against Brighton.
Defoe turned in the box and drilled home a clinical finish - his first goal since joining the Cherries in the summer - after being put through by substitute Jordon Ibe.
Winger Ibe has struggled since arriving at Bournemouth from Liverpool for £15m in 2016, but he also made the first goal with a clever backheel to Andrew Surman, who coolly stroked in.
After a dismal first half, the game came to life in the second period as Solly March headed in the opener for visitors Brighton from Pascal Gross' pinpoint cross.
Minutes earlier, defender Dale Stephens nodded an effort against the crossbar after Surman had cleared Shane Duffy's header and Davy Propper's follow-up off the line.
The two sides meet again at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday in the third round of the EFL Cup.

Ibe finally contributes

Up until Ibe's introduction on 65 minutes in place of Ryan Fraser, the Cherries were largely poor, failing to break down a Seagulls backline which had been sitting deep.
Full-back Charlie Daniels, who scored a stunner against Manchester City in the last league game, strode forward and struck a rising drive straight at Mathew Ryan, and striker Defoe came close when he spun and struck from the edge of the box.
But England Under-21 international Ibe, who provided no goals or assists in 25 league games last season, laid on two goals on Friday and almost got on the scoresheet late on with a free-kick that curled inches wide.
The pressure had been mounting on Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe after starting the Premier League campaign with four straight defeats, but the win moves them three points clear of bottom side Crystal Palace, who host Southampton on Saturday.
Howe said of Ibe's contribution: "He made a huge difference, the ability to beat people and be positive with the ball. The two assists were excellent and I am really pleased for him."

Gross looks pretty for Brighton

This was a meeting of two south-coast teams living a fairytale in the top flight of English football.
In 2008-09, Bournemouth were hit with a 17-point deduction after financial problems and they finished the season just two places above the relegation zone in League Two.
Brighton's long climb to the Premier League came having finished 23rd out of 24 teams in the old Division Three - now League Two - in 1997-98. The previous season, they finished in the same position and on the same points as Hereford, but stayed in the Football League by virtue of having scored three more goals than the Bulls.
Chris Hughton's side were proving tough to break down early on against Bournemouth and managed to take the lead courtesy of Gross' cross to fellow midfielder March.
German Gross, who created the most chances (98) in the Bundesliga for Ingolstadt last season, will be key if the Seagulls are to stay in the division, having been involved in all his team's goals this term - two goals and two assists.

They almost had a second but Ederson saved from Jermain Defoe before City were level on 21 minutes.

David Silva threaded the ball through to Gabriel Jesus, who finished for his first goal of the season.

Thereafter City largely dominated, although Joshua King hit a post on 61 minutes.

Nicolas Otamendi also hit the woodwork but just when it looked as if it would end a draw, City broke and Sterling’s deflected shot found the corner of the net.

Sterling then was sent off for a second yellow card after celebrating with the away fans.

Sterling was sent off by referee Mike Dean after the incident for sparking the celebrations, baffling City boss Pep Guardiola, who said: "If you cannot celebrate with the fans the best solution is not to invite the fans."

Thierry Henry questions Arsenal's mentality despite win at Bournemouth (espn)

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry does not know if Arsene Wenger's side have the mentality to win the Premier League ahead of Sunday's crunch meeting with Leicester City.
Leicester will lead Arsenal by five points when they make the trip to the Emirates, with the Gunners knowing that victory over their title rivals will put them in a strong position to lift their first title since 2004.
The 2-0 win over Bournemouth brought to an end a poor run for Arsenal, in which they had gone three games without a goal and have slipped below Tottenham Hotspur in the league.
And Henry, who has had a role coaching the youth team strikers, believes that the club's failure to take control of the Premier League when many of the traditional powerhouses are struggling is a sign of weakness.
"If I had said to you that Chelsea would struggle, Manchester City would struggle, you would have thought that it would be a season that Arsenal would walk away with it easily," Henry told Sky Sports. "And it's not happening.
"I would question also the mentality of it. The game against Chelsea, they didn't score [lost 1-0]. Those are the sort of games you need to win.
"They need three points. It is business. You don't win the league for a very long time. Can you win it? It's time to wake up and do it.
"For me at the moment, Leicester are the team to win it. They're not only showing they can win it, they're showing they can cope with the pressure."

Kembali di landasan kemenangan : Bournemouth 0-2 Arsenal

Arsenal returned to winning ways with a  2-0 victory at AFC Bournemouth on Sunday that sees them move above Manchester City and into third place in the Barclays Premier League.
The Gunners came into the fixture on the back of four league matches without a win and having failed to score in their last three but two goals in quick succession midway through the first half at Vitality Stadium ended that run.
Mesut Ozil netted the opener with a powerful finish before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain swiftly doubled the lead to score his first BPL goal away from Emirates Stadium.
The victory moves Arsenal level on points with Tottenham Hotspur in second and to within five of leaders Leicester City, who the Gunners host in a crunch title clash next Sunday.

AFC Bournemouth, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat in four matches and remain five points clear of the relegation zone in 15th position.
Eddie Howe's men were unchanged for Sunday's contest, while Arsenal brought in Oxlade-Chamberlain for Joel Campbell.
The early stages saw Mathieu Flamini booked for a heavy challenge on Dan Gosling while Alexis Sanchez lashed a shot over from a tight angle after latching on to Aaron Ramsey's bouncing pass.
It was the match's first shot on target which produced a goal from Ozil on 23 minutes. A deep cross from Ramsey was headed down by Olivier Giroud and the German playmaker impressively arrowed a right-footed shot into the roof of the net.
Within 88 seconds, the lead was doubled. A poor piece of defending saw Steve Cook give away possession and Ramsey took advantage to slip a pass to Oxlade-Chamberlain, who directed an excellent finish in off the far post.
Bournemouth almost got back into the game when Harry Arter beat two men and unleashed an impressive dipping strike that was kept out by an acrobatic Petr Cech save.
Both sides exchanged decent chances early in the second half, with Adam Smith forcing his way past Laurent Koscielny before firing a shot against the side netting for the hosts.
A few moments later, Sanchez collected a pass from Ozil at the other end and had a shot beaten away by Artur Boruc.
AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "It was a slow start from us, which is totally against what we wanted. We wanted to put them under pressure and really make it a difficult start to the game. They dominated possession, we found it hard to get really good pressure on the ball which is unlike us.
"They scored two goals on the back on that and from that point I felt we reacted very, very well and second half we dominated. It's the early stages of the game that I was disappointed with."
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "It was a must-win game - we had not won for a while. We started strong and after that you could see that our worry was to keep the result. We have only lost one game but we had not won for four games and of course that was on our mind.
"The most important is always to win. The confidence was not completely at its maximum but sometimes you have to scrap through games like that and get the three points. We had a strong start, with good finishing and we controlled the game. We beat a good side, it was three difficult points but three very important points."

A slow start ensured the Blues gave themselves a mountain to climb at the Britannia Stadium, conceding 2 goals within the first 15 minutes. "They played better than us and deserved to beat us."
