Bakayoko another smart Chelsea signing
A £40m deal for a largely unproven player in Tiemoue Bakayoko looks risky. But Chelsea historically have a good record when it comes to pricey central midfielders, as N'Golo Kante showed only last summer.

Bernardo Silva seals move to Manchester City from Monaco
Manchester City have sealed a move for Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva, making the Portugal midfielder the club's first addition of the summer.

The 22-year-old's transfer was announced on Thursday, and it will be finalised when the window opens on July 1. City confirmed that Silva will sign a five-year deal.
Silva was integral part of the Monaco side that won Ligue 1 and reached the semifinals of the Champions League, beating City in the round of 16 on the way.
He made 58 appearances for Monaco last season, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions. He has also won 12 caps for Portugal.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, though multiple reports put the transfer fee at about £43 million (€50m).

UCL : Kememangan moral buat MC 5-3 ke atas Monaco
"A crazy night" is how Sergio Agüero described it with some justification. Tuesday's eight-goal thriller between Manchester City and Monaco was a match that had just about everything, from special goals to slack defending, via some wondrously slick and swift attacking football by both teams.
Vision of the future?
Above all, Manchester City fans will hope it was a night that opened a window on a dazzling future for their team. In Monaco's half of the pitch, at least, we saw the kind of spectacle everyone of a Sky Blue persuasion must have dreamed of when Josep Guardiola walked into the building.
Even better, some of their best football in establishing their hard-earned 5-3 first-leg lead came from young wingers Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sané. Both scored. Both set up a goal. Sané ghosted away from three Monaco players in the lead-up to Sterling's opener. Sterling raced upfield and supplied Agüero to equalise at 2-2. Together they brought pace and movement and trickery. At 22 and 20 respectively, they can only improve.Above all, Manchester City fans will hope it was a night that opened a window on a dazzling future for their team. Agüero's timely reminder
There has never been any question about the sense of timing of the man who scored City's added time, Premier League title-winning goal in May 2012. There has been a question, though, about whether he fits into Guardiola's system. Yet Agüero, still more than any other City player, has an innate knack of finding the net.

Game of risk
Guardiola acknowledged afterwards that his strategy is a high-risk one. "We attack in small spaces and we leave big spaces behind – that's why I was brought here," he said. It means there will be occasions when the Spaniard can be seen hopping up and down in frustration – as he was in the lead-up to one Monaco goal – but he will not change.

What may change, in time, is Guardiola's defensive personnel.
This was a difficult evening for Nicolás Otamendi and John Stones, though in the case of 22-year-old Stones – duped by Radamel Falcao before the Colombian's sensational second goal yet later on target with his first UEFA Champions League strike – he is a young centre-half still learning the game.
Caballero makes his mark
Willy Caballero has waited patiently in the wings at Manchester City yet this was his most influential display since usurping Claudio Bravo as first-choice keeper. His fortunes were typical of City's on a blink-and-you'll-miss-it night: there was a mistake ahead of Monaco's first goal but then a penalty save and, late on, another pivotal intervention to deny Falcao.

Agüero described his compatriot's spot-kick stop as a turning point. "It was an extra lift for us – a boost. From there we picked ourselves up and played a good game." That really is not even the half of it.
Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho claims no one ever doubted Sergio Aguero's quality - even when he was on the the bench: 'His history at this club speaks for itself'

MONACO secured top spot in group E & a place in the round 16 courtesy of a 2-1 victory on home turf against Tottenham Hotspur, who can now finish no higher than 3rd.
Monaco are unbeaten in 14 home games since 1 April
Lloris said before this game that it would be a "failure" if Tottenham went out at the group stage, but by their own high standards the Lilywhites have failed in this European venture.
Spurs cannot say they have performed to their best in any UEFA Champions League fixture this term and they were all at sea defensively in Monaco, despite Lloris's heroics

HUGO: "We're very disappointed, very frustrated. We started too slow and sloppy. We didn't deserve to win tonight."

Leicester City's dream UEFA Champions League debut goes on after they beat Club Brugge to book a place in the last 16 as Group G winners with a game to spare.
A lovely finish from Shinji Okazaki set Claudio Ranieri's side on their way after just five minutes, and when Riyad Mahrez doubled the lead from the penalty spot – his fourth goal in five UEFA Champions League matches – the writing was on the wall for the point-less visitors.
CLAUDIO: "Very happy for the club, Chairman, the lads, our fans. We're on another journey. I don't know where, but we're excited!"
MORGAN: "For a club like #lcfc to finish top of our #ucl group is an amazing achievement. Been better than we could have imagined.
Dortmund and Legia combine to smash goals records
Key player: Marco Reus (Dortmund)
Reus banished any doubts about his match sharpness with a virtuoso display. Other players might have tired on their first competitive outing in six months. Not Reus. That the German international was still going strong at the death, when he fashioned his team's eighth, was testament to his endurance levels.

UCL : ARSENAL 1 -3 MONACO
Arsenal crumble at last-16 stage YET AGAIN as Berbatov inspires Monaco to famous win and leaves Wenger's side on brink of exit
ARSENAL 1-3 MONACO - MARTIN SAMUEL AT THE EMIRATES: It was his goal, after 53 minutes, that may have done for Arsenal in this tournament this season. That it was Monaco's second of the night without reply makes this one of the shocks of the Champions League campaign so far. We knew Monaco could keep it tight. Nobody fancied them taking a two-goal lead back to their home second leg, though. And it could have been more.
- Geoffrey Kondogbia's first-half strike put Arsenal on the back foot on a dire night for Arsene Wenger's men
- Dimitar Berbatov struck a clinical second just after the break to give the Gunners a mountain to climb
- Alex Oxlade Chamberlain hit a late strike to give the Gunners a lifeline
- But Yannick Ferreira Carrasco struck with almost the last kick of the game to restore Monaco's two-goal cushion
- Arsenal failed to register a shot on target in the first half
- Olivier Giroud missed two gilt-edged chances to score for the Gunners
A Monaco fan holds up a sign acknowledging the work of Arsene Wenger and Eric Di Meco for the French club
