FA cup Final : PLAYER RATINGS: Classy Mesut Ozil ran the show but Victor Moses had a nightmare

ARSENAL (3-4-3)

DAVID OSPINA - 6.5
Might have done better with Diego Costa’s goal and a couple of hairy moments - but also made two stunning saves.
ROB HOLDING - 7.5
Showed great maturity in tracking runners and managed to get under Costa’s skin early, although lost him for the goal.
PER MERTESACKER - 8.5
Didn’t look like a man who had not started a game for 392 days. A true leader and won every header.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil was one of the better players on the park on Saturday

NACHO MONREAL - 7
Looks at home on the left of a back three and does the simple things well rather than over-complicating defending.
HECTOR BELLERIN - 7.5
Flew down the right with purpose and the Spaniard’s fitness is such that he almost scored a third on the counter late on.
AARON RAMSEY - 8.5
A tenacious display with real grit. Unsettled Chelsea throughout and capped the day off with the winner after earlier hitting the post.

Impressive Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey capped the day off with the winner

GRANIT XHAKA - 8
Potentially his finest day in an Arsenal shirt to date. Distribution not always perfect but read the game superbly well.
ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN - 7
Helped double up with Monreal and was menacing when he motored down the left. Final ball let him down a little.
MESUT OZIL - 8
Much maligned German was back to his best. Worked hard and even executed a crunching sliding tackle on Hazard

Defender Per Mertesacker didn’t look like a man who had not started a game for 392 days

DANNY WELBECK - 6.5
Looked to stretch the Chelsea back three and hit a post but struggled to carve out many opportunities.
ALEXIS SANCHEZ - 9
A nightmare to pick up, Sanchez told Ramsey to step aside for the first goal and remained a thorn in Chelsea’s side.

SUBS
OLIVIER GIROUD (for Welbeck, 78) - Immediate impact by assisting Ramsey’s winner.
FRANCIS COQUELIN (for Oxlade-Chamberlain, 82) - Fresh legs in midfield.
MOHAMED ELNENY (for Sanchez, 90) - Running the clock down.

CHELSEA (3-4-3)

THIBAUT COURTOIS - 7
Certainly blameless, making some big saves, and the Belgian’s quick distribution helped Chelsea find a foothold in the game.
CESAR AZPILICUETA - 5.5
Caught in a daze from the off, often failing to pick up Sanchez but did improve as the evening went on.
DAVID LUIZ - 5.5
Wore a look of real frustration after being caught napping for Arsenal’s controversial opener and not his finest day.
GARY CAHILL - 7
Almost single-handedly kept Chelsea in it with two goal-line clearances during the first 45 minutes. Struggled with Ozil’s vision.
VICTOR MOSES - 4
Little quality on the ball and a blatant dive saw him given a second yellow and halting Chelsea’s forward momentum.
N’GOLO KANTE - 4.5
Endured his worst 20 minutes of football in England to start - and then did not track Ramsey for the eventual winner late on.
NEMANJA MATIC - 5
Game passed him by to a degree. Could not stamp his authority as Xhaka and Ramsey took control of the engine room.
MARCOS ALONSO - 6
Delivery just not good enough from wide areas and too often could be seen playing catch up with Bellerin.
PEDRO - 6.5
Antonio Conte’s liveliest player and the one who truly threatened to open Arsenal up. Drifted into dangerous pockets.
DIEGO COSTA - 7
Stood up to the physical confrontation and finally made a lasting impact by bouncing off Holding to equalise.
EDEN HAZARD - 6
Did have his fleeting moments when taking charge through the middle yet seemed unusually quiet, which is credit to Monreal.
SUBS
CESC FABREGAS (for Matic, 61) -Stayed on the move as Chelsea grew stronger.
WILLIAN (for Pedro, 72) -Wonderful delivery for Costa’s equaliser.
MICHY BATSHUAYI (for Costa, 88) -Last roll of the dice by Conte.

REF: ANTHONY TAYLOR - 7

FA Emirates Cup : ARSENAL 2-1 Chelsea

Bridge too far for Chelsea

Chelsea went into this final as firm favourites to claim the league and cup double against an Arsenal side who have been their inferior this season. But in the end it was just one game too far for Antonio Conte's men.
They looked leg-weary and slow and key men such as Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante were unable to exert their usual influence.
The Blues threatened to demonstrate their durability and resilience once more when, even at a numerical disadvantage, Costa put them back in the game.
It was not to be - and the brutal truth is that on the day they were outplayed by a resurgent Arsenal. This has still been an outstanding season for Conte's side.

Brave Taylor sticks to his guns

The referee was presented with two big FA Cup final decisions - and he was certainly not found to be lacking in conviction.
He overruled his linesman for Sanchez's opening goal after the offside flag had been raised, although Chelsea were left nursing a serious sense of injustice as they believed the Chilean had handled.
There was no question he got his second decision right, giving a second yellow card to Moses as he clearly dived in a desperate attempt to win a penalty as Chelsea chased an equaliser.

'An incredible season'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "We had an outstanding performance from the first minute onwards. This team has suffered. They've united and responded. They showed strength and unity and played spectacular football today.
"I'm proud to have won seven of these cups. I'm proud having done this - winning the championship without losing and winning seven FA Cups."

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte: "I think the first goal was very strange. The first half we didn't start well, we didn't have the right approach and we suffered in first 25 minutes. We started to play better in the second half and the red card was decisive.
"There is disappointment for the final result but it can happen and there was a lot of pressure. Victor Moses has been good and played an important season.
"Our season was incredible to win the league in this way, it was great but now it's important to look forward and to restart".

ARSENAL juara FA Emirates Cup 2016/17

Arsenal duo Per Mertesacker and Alexis Sanchez dedicated their Emirates FA Cup win over Chelsea to boss Arsene Wenger.
Goals from Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey were enough to secure a deserved 2-1 victory over their London rivals at Wembley to help Wenger become the most successful manager in FA Cup history.

And stand-in captain Mertesacker, who has spent most of the last year out injured was quick to praise the Frenchman.

"Not bad is it?" he said.

"That's everything there is to say, because a lot has been said about the manager but the team gave the right answer today.

"We didn't care about what was said in the press or media, we just focused on ourselves and we had a brilliant game today."

And with Laurent Koscielny suspended, Gabriel Jesus suspended and then Kieran Gibbs falling ill before the game, the experienced German was only too happy to step in and put in a vintage display.

"The manager said nothing special, I think this team trusts me, which is more important than anything else," he explained.

"With the support of the team, anything is possible, even for myself, I haven't played a lot but I was still able to do that for my team."

Sanchez set the Gunners on their way with an early opening goal after just four minutes.
And his performance set the tone throughout the day, earning him the official man-of-the-match award.

"I'm so happy with the win and to win The FA Cup," said the Chilean star.

"And I'm so happy for the players and the manager."

7 - Arsene Wenger has won the FA Cup seven times, more than any other manager in history. Legend.

David advised the chairman and chief executive of his decision to leave the club at a meeting in London this morning (Monday 22nd May 2017).

EPL : Chelsea goalkeeper pips Hugo Lloris to claim clean-sheet honour for the first time

I am very proud" Golden Glove winner speaks of his delight after claiming honour

Thibaut Courtois paid tribute to his title-winning Chelsea team-mates after he claimed his first Premier League Golden Glove
The 25-year-old goalkeeper went into the final match of the season against Sunderland with 16 clean sheets and that is how it stayed as Javier Manquillo scored for the Black Cats in the third minute. That left Hugo Lloris as his only challenger but Tottenham Hotspur also conceded in his side's 7-1 victory at Hull City, leaving the Frenchman on 15 clean sheets.
Courtois is the second Chelsea goalkeeper to win the honour, Petr Cech claiming it three times at Stamford Bridge.  "In a league like the Premier League it's very nice [to win the Golden Glove]," Courtois said. "I am very proud of it.
"I have to thank all of the team, you don't do it alone. Of course there were key saves that kept a clean sheet but all of the team defended well, it was a great year for everybody."
Courtois made 68 saves this season but one that stood out for him was when he denied Patrick van Aanholt and Sunderland an equaliser in stoppage time of Chelsea's 1-0 victory at the Stadium of Light in December.
"Not only was it a clean sheet but that kept our [winning] run going," he said. "If that would have gone in maybe we would have had a bad feeling.
"That was a good save and an important one for the league and a clean sheet."
