Unai Emery breaks social media silence after Arsenal sacking

The former Gunners boss was dismissed from the club after the Europa League defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt, with Freddie Ljungberg taking over as interim manager.

Unai Emery has broken his social media silence by posting for the first time since leaving his role at the Emirates Stadium two weeks ago.
The Spaniard was shown the door after a poor start to the season, with a 2-1 Europa League defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt proving to be the last straw for Arsenal chiefs.
That defeat left the Gunners winless in seven games in all competitions, and with the possibility of Champions League football returning to the Emirates Stadium next season diminishing, Arsenal decided to take action.
Freddie Ljungberg has been in charge as caretaker manager since Emery's sacking. He has overseen one draw, one loss and one win in the Premier League. His team also came from two goals down to earn a draw in the Europa League against Standard Liege.
While the Ljungberg and the players have been continuing to work in order to try and turn their season around, Emery has given an insight into what he has been doing now he has more spare time on his hands.
"Always very grateful to this great staff. #keepworking," he posted on his Twitter account, alongside a picture of him with some of his staff at Arsenal.

The Empty Emirates: Struggling Arsenal stars greeted by thousands of spare seats in Europa League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt

  • The Emirates Stadium was barren for Arsenal's clash with Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Supporters have vented frustrations recently with the club's poor run of form
  • The club had posted their lowest-ever attendance against BATE Borisov
  • Pressure is mounting on manager Unai Emery with fans demanding change

Arsenal stars were faced with a barren Emirates Stadium for the strugglers' Europa League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Supporters have recently vented their frustration with the club's poor run of form, and pressure continues to mount on maligned manager Unai Emery.
And for Thursday evening's group stage tie, thousands of empty seats could be seen at the 60,000 capacity ground.
The fractured relationship between the fan base and the club became even more evident with droves of the Gunners' faithful opting to stay at home to watch their side.
The club claimed on Thursday evening that the official attendance was 49,419.
Arsenal have failed to collect a single victory across all competitions for over a month, and the recent stalemate against Southampton in north London resulted in further question marks surrounding Emery's immediate future.
The attendance mirrored the lack of support visible at the stadium on several occasions across recent seasons, with the club posting its lowest ever attendance for a European tie against BATE Borisov in 2017.
Less than 30,000 spectators had been present for that game, despite Arsenal claiming it had in fact sold out, and the hierachy became increasingly concerned with no-shows in the final years of Arsene Wenger's tenure.
Speculation around ten minutes before kick-off in the capital revealed that only an approximate 1,000-2,000 supporters had taken their seats.
The attendance was diminished even further with Eintracht Frankfurt's away contingent banned from entering the ground.
The Bundesliga outfit had been punished by UEFA following disturbances in the crowd in a clash with Vitoria Guimaraes earlier this term.

Unai said :
We can be disappointed but the attitude of the players, they did the gameplan.
“In the second half we created some chances and when they scored we lost that opportunity.
“We are distant from them now but we will take time to prepare and improve and take the balance in the team.
“Manchester United and Spurs are also behind us so it is an equal competition but we have time to reduce the gap on Leicester.
“If we can play strong at home, I know we can play well when we play away.
“We didn’t lose at home but today lost here because Leicester are at home and feel strong here.
“I am speaking with the club to stay strong and recover. We also have young players who are growing up with us.
“I know we are receiving criticism but I have done before and I have recovered.
“I accept all the criticism. It is normal. Today we did one step ahead being better defensively.”

EPL : Another frustrating day for Spurs

Tottenham's winless run extended to five Premier League games as newly promoted Sheffield United earned a well-deserved point with a 1-1 draw.

Jimenez memberitahu BT Sport: “Ia sukar buat kami. Saya tak tahu apa nak kata. Saya harap dia pulih dengan segera.”

Europa League : MU Celtic layak pusingan kalah mati

Anthony Martial menggandakan kelebihan selepas setengah jam dengan gol individu menakjubkan sebelum Marcus Rashford merembat masuk gol ketiga empat minit selepas rehat.

Olivier Ntcham scored the winning goal for Celtic

Rembatan voli Ciro Immobile menyaksikan tuan rumah mendahului selepas tujuh minit tetapi James Forrest menyamakan kedudukan buat Celtic sebelum rehat.
Namun pemain gantian Ntcham menyambut hantaran Odsonne Edouard pada minit kelima masa kecederaan sebelum melakukan penyudah mengagumkan melepasi penjaga gol Lazio, Thomas Strakosha.

BUNDESLIGA : Bayern catat kekalahan terburuk

Bagaimanapun Frankfurt begitu menguasai permainan sehingga pengendalinya Adi Huetter membawa masuk penyerang ketiga menggantikan pemain tengah bertahan Gelson Fernandes ketika permainan berbaki 10 minit.
Lima minit kemudian Frankfurt meledak gol kelima menerusi Goncalo Pacienca.

Things go from bad to worse for Mauricio Pochettino's men as teenage striker Aaron Connolly steals the show with brace while Tottenham lose goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to arm injury

  • Brighton host Tottenham on Saturday in the Premier League's early kick-off
  • Tottenham are looking for a response after their 7-2 defeat to Bayern Munich
  • The hosts are looking for only their second win of the season after a tough run
3-0 win is their biggest ever win over Tottenham and aslo their biggest Epl win v a Big Six team 👏

JERMAINE JENAS TO BT SPORT: 'It stinks of that type of moment (change manager).
'I feel like the club have let Mauricio down and the players as well. Something has to change. I hope it is the players’ mentality rather than a manager change.'
FT: Brighton 3-0 Tottenham
Tottenham's week has gone from bad to worse (and not many thought that was possible after the 7-2 capitulation against Bayern Munich in the Champions League)
Mauricio Pochettino's side were outplayed for large spells on Saturday lunchtime as teenage striker Aaron Connolly netted a brace and strike partner Neal Maupay also bagged in a 3-0 win.
The big concern for Tottenham will not be the result, rather the health and fitness of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris after he was forced off early in the first half with an horrific arm injury as he was given oxygen as he was stretchered off the pitch.

  • Jermaine Jenas spoke of his disbelief as Spurs were humiliated on Tuesday
  • Bayern exposed the problems enveloping Mauricio Pochettino and his squad
  • Former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry scored four goals as the Germans ran riot

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas spoke of his disbelief as Spurs were humiliated 7-2 by Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.
Ex-Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry scored four as the German giants ran riot and exposed the problems enveloping manager Mauricio Pochettino and his squad, just five months after their appearance in the Champions League final.
After Gnabry completed the rout by scoring his fourth of the night, Jenas, who was co-commentating in north London on Tuesday night for BT Sport, said after the seventh goal: 'This is a big wake up call for this football club it really is.

It was a chastening night for Tottenham, who have struggled to find their form so far this season in England and across Europe

Carabao Cup Result Round 3 & Pertembungan Round 4 yg menarek > Chelsea vs MU & Liv vs Ars

Red Devils scrape through on penalties

Carabao Cup : Arsenal 5 Nottingham Forest 0 | Shkodran Mustafi sarcastically hits back at fan

'Sorry for keeping two clean sheets': Shkodran Mustafi sarcastically hits back at fan who begrudgingly points out Arsenal haven't conceded when he's been on the pitch this season

  • A fan has begrudgingly pointed out Shkodran Mustafi's success this season
  • The German has made two starts in cup competitions and kept two clean sheets
  • Arsenal were keen to sell Mustafi this summer, but were unable to find a buyer

Shkodran Mustafi has sent a sarcastic apology to a fan on Twitter after his performances in defence for Arsenal so far this season.
The defender hasn't played in the Premier League yet, but has started in both the Europa League and the League Cup.
Arsenal didn't concede a goal in either game against Eintracht Frankfurt and Nottingham Forest, and one fan saw fit to point it out on Twitter.
Mustafi has started in the League Cup and Europa League, and kept a clean sheet in both
'I hate to say this but @MustafiOfficial has played two games and kept two clean sheet,' said the Twitter user, adding a 'thinking' emoji.
To white Mustafi replied: 'Sorry for keeping the two clean sheets,' adding a less than amused emoji of his own.
Mustafi was deemed surplus to requirements at Arsenal this summer, but the club were unable to find a buyer.
There was interest from Juventus on the final day, however the transfer window slammed shut before a deal was done.
Mustafi joined Arsenal from Valencia for £35million in August 2016, but has fallen down the pecking order in recent times.
However, the German was given a start in the Gunners' 3-0 away win at Frankfurt, and then was in the line-up again for their 5-0 win against Forest in the League Cup.
After the Frankfurt game, Mustafi refused to rule out a potential transfer in the future, saying: 'My dad talked to the club. I am a player of Arsenal and have another two years of contract.
'I was never the one who starts a war when something does not work out.
'If something turns out, I'm open to taking the next step. If not, then I will continue my football.'
