Maarten Stekelenburg became only the seventh player to save two penalties in a Premier League match as the Everton goalkeeper thwarted Manchester City and help his side earn a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.
The Dutchman dived to his left to stop Kevin De Bruyne's spot-kick on 43 minutes, then stretched even further in the same direction to deny Sergio Aguero in the 70th minute.
These were two of seven saves Stekelenburg made in the match, with possibly the best coming at the end to push De Bruyne's shot on to a post.
"I've saved penalties before but never two in a game, though," Stekelenburg told evertonfc.com. "There's no real secret to it. You just have to wait as long as possible and then go for the corner."
The feat had been achieved seven times before in the Premier League.
Mark Bosnich was the first to save two spot-kicks in the same match in 1993/94 and, until today Heurelho Gomes, who is the only 'keeper to do so on two separate occasions, was the last to do it.
"We had great defending and great organisation in our team." - @RonaldKoeman on the 1-1 draw with @ManCity and Stekelenburg's heroics.
PEP: I’m not frustrated. I make a compliment to Everton - how they defended. I am sad for the players - they deserved to win the game
